Honesty is the best policy.
誠實(shí)總是上策。
Honesty is the best policy 直譯過來就是：“誠實(shí)是最佳政策”，其實(shí)policy在此并不是“政策”的意思，而應(yīng)該當(dāng)“原則”來講。這個俚語的意思是：“誠為上策，誠實(shí)是最佳的處世原則”。因此，當(dāng)美國人說"Honesty is the best policy."時，他/她要表達(dá)的意思就是:"Honesty must come first."、"Honesty is the most important rule."、"To be honest is of great importance."。
情景對白：
