1. 解詞釋義

Put on the dog的意思是“講排場，擺闊氣”。這是一個隨著社會物質(zhì)財富而逐漸豐富流行起來的習(xí)語。它出現(xiàn)于10多年前，因?yàn)楫?dāng)時有錢人家的太太喜歡花高價購買寵物狗，又喜歡抱著它們在客人面前賣弄，所以就有了這個表達(dá)方式，帶貶義的色彩比較濃。其英文解釋為：to make things extra special or dress formallyfor a special event。
