不同的兩個(gè)英語詞，查字典，中文翻譯都一樣。二選一都能用?其實(shí)你都用錯(cuò)了!今天，Jenny, Adam告訴你最容易用錯(cuò)的英語詞。

期待: Expect or look forward to?

我們常收到用戶、聽眾們的留言：

"Love your shows! Expect new shows!" 很喜歡你們的節(jié)目，期待新節(jié)目!

這里，不該用expect

而應(yīng)該用look forward to

"Love your shows! Look forwad to new shows!" 很喜歡你們的節(jié)目，期待新節(jié)目!

為什么?

Expect指的是基于標(biāo)準(zhǔn)、要求的期待;應(yīng)該發(fā)生：

A boss expects a lot from his employees: 老板對員工有高要求、高期待

Look forward to指的是期待、愿望、盼望：

I'm really looking forward to the weekend: 我好期待周末

開燈: Turn on or open?

中文慣性，說“開燈”，很容易脫口而出“open the light"。

Can you open the light?

Can you turn on the light?

怎么區(qū)分?

電器、電子設(shè)備用turn on:

Turn on the light: 開燈

Turn on the TV: 開電視

Turn on the phone: 開手機(jī)

Devices: 設(shè)備

其它類型的東西，用open:

Open the door：開門

Open the box: 開盒子

Open your eyes: 睜開眼睛

對應(yīng)“開"，“關(guān)”是turn off或者close。

名片：Name card or business card?

Name card是Chinglish, 英語可不是這樣說的呢!

Business card在口語中，也可以簡化為"card"。

Do you have a name card?

Do you have a business card?

Do you have a card?

高：Tall or high?

Tall形容人，high形容樓房?錯(cuò)啦!

記住：

Tall用來形容人、樓房、樹;High形容山、墻、高跟鞋。

Yao ming is very high.

Yao ming is very tall.

The building is very high.

The building is very tall.

Highrise: 高樓、高層建筑， 注意highrise是一個(gè)詞

The trees are very high.

The trees are very tall.

The mountain is very tall.

The mountain is very high.

High heels: 高跟鞋

These heels are so high: 這雙鞋的鞋跟好高啊

Fun or funny?

常見錯(cuò)誤：

The party last night was so funny!

The party last night was so fun!

怎么區(qū)分?

Fun: 好玩兒、有樂趣、有意思

We had so much fun together: 我們一起玩兒得好開心!

It's so fun to learn English! 學(xué)英語很有樂趣!

Funny: 搞笑

Stephen Chou's movies are so funny! 周星馳的電影很搞笑!

My boyfriend's jokes are not funny at all! 我男友的笑話一點(diǎn)兒也不好笑。

注意：一個(gè)人可以同時(shí)fun和funny!

Fun口語里也常做形容詞使用，比如形容人。

看一下區(qū)別：

Adam is a fun person: Adam是個(gè)很有意思的人

Adam is a funny person: Adam是個(gè)很幽默的人

沙發(fā)≠Sofa

大家寫留言習(xí)慣用的"sofa"完全錯(cuò)啦!

英語里，sofa就是家具，不能用在留言上。

正確的用法是：

馬克 ≠ Mark

同樣，"馬克"也不能直接翻成mark!
