美國文化脫口秀 第386期:G20的G是什么?

同為國際關(guān)系碩士，Jenny和Spencer都表示，今天一定要說G20!大家知道G20的“G”，到底代表什么?總理、首相、總統(tǒng)、主席各種稱謂，英語是什么?各國領(lǐng)導人名字怎么念?還有國際政壇顏值擔當?shù)膸浉缈偫?，這次也來了，而且和中國頗有淵源!

G = group: 集團，團體

It stands for "group". When you say G20, it sounds much more powerful and mysterious: 其實就是“團體”啦，不過說G20, 聽起來有氣勢多了，而且還有幾分神秘感

Summit also means the top of the mountain: 這個詞也是山峰的意思

你可以用這些詞形容大人物、大腕兒：

The who's who of ...: 大人物，大腕

The whole shebang: 所有大人物，大腕

The whole gang: 同上

這幾個說法都特別地道。跟native speaker說，他們一定對你刮目相看!

不過，這些說法很口語;正式的說法是：

national leaders: 國家領(lǐng)導人

heads of states: 國家元首

總統(tǒng)、主席;總理、首相

雖然中文叫法因國而異，不過基本上英語談國家領(lǐng)導人，就會用這兩個詞：

President: 總統(tǒng)、主席

Prime Minister (也?？s寫為PM): 首相，總理

但是，有個例外：

Chancellor: 德國總理用這個詞

Germany is the only major country that uses the word "chancellor" instead of prime minister: 德國應(yīng)該是主要國家里唯一用chancellor而不是prime minister稱呼總理的

G20還有一個國王

King: 國王

Which country is that? 這是哪個國家?

It's a country with a lot of oil: 是個石油很多的國家

Oh, Saudi Arabia! 噢，沙特阿拉伯

還有頭銜很長的歐盟領(lǐng)導人：

President of the European Council: 歐洲理事會主席

President of the European Commission: 歐盟委員會主席

這兩個詞都是調(diào)侃口吻，指一個男人特別喜歡、特別欣賞另一個男人

特魯多的爸爸也曾任加拿大總理，而且是加拿大人公認的最杰出的一任總理。他們家族在加拿大的地位堪比肯尼迪家族在美國的地位。
