Sleeping, waking, still at ease,	睡著，醒著，自由自在，
Pleasing, without skill to please;	毫無(wú)機(jī)巧，卻招人喜愛(ài);
Little gossip, blithe and hale,	咿呀說(shuō)話，健康，歡欣，
Tattling many a broken tale,	講些個(gè)并不連貫的事情，
Singing many a tuneless song,	唱多少歌子，全走了調(diào)，
Lavish of a heedless tongue;	又說(shuō)又唱，沒(méi)完沒(méi)了;
Simple maiden, void of art,	單純的幼女，天真無(wú)邪，
Babbling out the very heart,	把一片童心向外傾瀉，
Yet abandon'd to thy will,	你無(wú)拘無(wú)束，隨心隨意，
Yet imagining no ill,	不知道邪惡是什么東西，
Yet too innocent to blush;	一派純真，不懂得羞赧，
Like the linnet in the bush	就像紅雀在矮樹林間
To the mother-linnet's note	跟隨著紅雀媽媽的歌聲，
Moduling her slender throat;	調(diào)整自己纖細(xì)的嗓音;
Chirping forth thy petty joys,	咿呀唱出你小小的歡愉，
Wanton in the change of toys,	調(diào)皮地變換著一件件玩具，
Like the linnet green, in May	又像金翅鳥迎來(lái)五月，
Flitting to each bloomy spray;	輕捷地飛向鮮花嫩葉;
Wearied then and glad of rest,	要是累了就愉快地歇息，
Like the linnet in the nest: ----	仿佛紅雀休憩在窩里：——
This thy present happy lot,	這一切是你今天的好運(yùn)道，
This, in time will be forgot:	這一切到時(shí)候會(huì)被忘掉：
Other pleasures, other cares,	匆匆的時(shí)間將為你準(zhǔn)備好
Ever-busy Time prepares;	別的歡樂(lè)和別的煩惱;
And thou shalt in thy daughter see,	你將來(lái)在你的女兒身上
