美國人常說“You kill it”是什么意思?
以前讀書時代,大家記單詞習慣只記一個用法,
后來才發(fā)現(xiàn)英文比想象中靈活多了!
比如,kill的常用口語就遠不止“殺”的意思,
1.You kill it!
You kill it是一句很常見的口語,不是"你殺了它”,它有一正一反兩個意思:
正:干得漂亮!
You did a really good job.
反:破壞掉某個東西原有的本質(zhì)
destroy the essential quality of something
-I passed the driving license test.
我通過駕照考試了。
-Wow! It’s really hard. You killed it!
哇!那個很難拿。你真棒!
-Oh, man, you really killed that song.
你把那首歌唱毀了。
2. It‘s killing me!
To cause extreme pain
帶來極度的疼痛,不適,悲痛
The high heels are killing me.
這雙高跟鞋讓我難受死了。
3. kill還有吃完或是喝光的意思
to eat all of something; to drink all (of a bottle) of something.
吃完所有的東西,飲完瓶子剩余的飲料之類
I finally killed the burger. I’m so stuffed now.
終于把漢堡全部吃完了。肚子好撐啊。
