【語法用法】
refuse后可接不定式，但不能接動名詞。
He refused to go with us.
他拒絕和我們一起走。
注意refuse后絕不可接賓語和不定式或者是that從句。
He refused me to use his bicycle.
He refused that I should use his bicycle.
上面兩句話都是不正確的表達方式，可改為以下等不同語氣的表達方式。
He refused me permission to use his bicycle.
He refused to let me use his bicycle.
表示不接受對方的邀請，請求或是提議時，一般不用refuse或是reject，而常用cannot accept，cannotcomply with，decline等。
【詞義辨析】
refuse, decline, reject, repel, deny
這些動詞均含“拒絕”之意。
refuse語氣較重，指態(tài)度堅決，肯定無疑的拒絕。
decline指婉言謝絕他人的幫助或邀請等。
reject多指由于某物某事某行為不能讓人滿意而被當面直截了當?shù)鼐芙^，與之相近的是spurn，鄙棄之意。
repel作“拒絕”解時，語氣比reject強。
deny指否認(觀點)。

His selfishness caused him to refuse my solicitation.

I refuse to be dictated to by you.

I deem it proper to refuse.

【詞義辨析】
as, because, for, since
這些連詞均含有“因為”之意。
as從屬連詞，語意較because, since弱，著重在主句，所表示的原因或理由是“附帶的”。
because從屬連詞，語意強，著重直接的原因或理由，所引出的從句是全句的重心，用以回答why提出的問題。
for并列連詞，語氣較弱，所引出的句子一般放在后面，表示附帶說明的理由或推斷理由。
since語意比because弱，但比as強，一般用于表示“由于大家已知的事實”。
