S: Hi, Mary. I haven't seen you in ages! I heard that you and Daniel are getting married on August 8th, the opening day of the 2008 Olympic Games. Is it true?

嗨，瑪麗，好久不見(jiàn)!聽(tīng)說(shuō)你和丹尼爾打算8月8日，也就是2008年奧運(yùn)會(huì)的第一天結(jié)婚，是真的嗎?

E: yes, it is. We've been dating for over 7 years. We have decided to get married on a special day and we think August 8th, 2008 is a red-letter day.

是的，我們已經(jīng)談了7年戀愛(ài)，決定選個(gè)特殊的日子結(jié)婚。2008年8月8日正是個(gè)好日子。

S: good for you! It sounds like you've done a lot of planning in a very short time.

E: yes, there is a lot of to be taken care of---wedding photos, wedding dress, catering, transport, hotel, etc…

S: is everything ready now?

都準(zhǔn)備好了嗎?

E: almost. The only thing that isn't ready is the hotel. As a lot of people have chosen that day to get married, it is hard to find a hotel that isn't too expensive.

差不多了，就剩酒店了。因?yàn)槟翘煊泻芏嗳私Y(jié)婚，很難找到價(jià)位適合的酒店。

S: have you tried The Peninsula Palace Beijing? My wedding reception was held there and they did an excellent job.

你試過(guò)王府半島酒店嗎?我的婚宴就在那兒辦的，辦的很好。

E: yes, we called, but it is booked up. The only choice is the Regent Beijing but we haven't made up our minds yet.

是的，打過(guò)電話了，但是已經(jīng)訂滿了，就只剩下北京麗晶酒店了，我們還沒(méi)決定呢。

S: it's an excellent hotel. A friend of mine had her wedding reception there and sasid it was perfect, though very expensive.

北京麗晶酒店很好啊。我有個(gè)朋友就在那兒辦的婚宴，聽(tīng)說(shuō)不錯(cuò)，只是價(jià)格稍微貴了點(diǎn)。

E: that's why we want to have a look at other hotels. We don’t want to spend too much on an extravagant wedding reception.

S: I guess you're right. I can help you ask other hotels. I am sure there are probably some available.

J: what was your wedding ceremony like, Abigail?

蓋布莉加爾，你們的結(jié)婚典禮怎么樣?

A: my husband and I got married in a registry office with just two friends there as witnesses. But then we had three parties to celebrate.

我和我丈夫請(qǐng)了2個(gè)朋友做見(jiàn)證人，去婚姻注冊(cè)處注了冊(cè)?？墒牵又覀円k3場(chǎng)酒席。

J: three parties? That's quite a lot. That must have been expensive!

三場(chǎng)?太多了，一定要花很多錢(qián)!

A: well, since my husband and I are from two different countries, and we live in a third country, we decided to have one in each country. It wasn't actually that expensive.

嗯，因?yàn)槲液臀艺煞騺?lái)自不同國(guó)家，而且我們又在第三個(gè)國(guó)家生活。所以，我們打算在每個(gè)國(guó)家請(qǐng)一次客。實(shí)際上花費(fèi)也不會(huì)太多。

J: were your parents upset that they weren't there to see you get married?

你們的父母沒(méi)能出席你們的婚禮，他們不會(huì)覺(jué)得有點(diǎn)失望嗎?

A: I would have liked them to be there, but they couldn’t afford to fly out to see us, and we couldn't afford to fly out to see them, so they understood.

我其實(shí)很希望他們能來(lái)，但是他們負(fù)擔(dān)不了飛過(guò)來(lái)看我們的機(jī)票費(fèi)用，我們?nèi)タ此麄円餐瑯语w不起，所以我們就互相理解吧。

J: did your husband's family get to meet your family?

你公公婆婆和你父母見(jiàn)過(guò)面嗎?

A: my husband's parents flew out to meet my family when we got married in my hometown, so that was great. Some people spend ridiculous amounts of money on extravagant wedding receptions, but we agreed that the wedding party should be less about money and more about family.

我們?cè)谖壹亦l(xiāng)結(jié)婚的時(shí)候，我公公婆婆飛過(guò)來(lái)和我父母見(jiàn)了一面，非常愉快。有些人為了辦個(gè)豪華婚禮不惜一擲千金，可是我們還是覺(jué)得婚禮應(yīng)該多一點(diǎn)家庭的溫馨，少一點(diǎn)金錢(qián)的裝點(diǎn)。

J: that makes sense. Did you go on a honeymoon?

有道理。你們?nèi)ザ让墼铝藛?

A: we waited until our one-year anniversary to go on our honeymoon to Africa.

我們想結(jié)婚一周年的時(shí)候去非洲度蜜月。

J: you really didn't have a very traditional wedding, did you?

你們的婚禮真的跟傳統(tǒng)式不沾邊，對(duì)吧?

A: not at all, but we don’t have a very traditional marriage either, so it suited us perfectly!

沒(méi)錯(cuò)，而且我們也不是普通的婚姻，所以，這種婚禮和我們正好相配。
