第7單元 外甥女和外甥
There was a woman who was pregnant with twins, and shortly before they were due, she had an accident and went into a coma.
有名婦女懷了雙胞胎，結(jié)果在小孩要出生前不久，因?yàn)榘l(fā)生意外而陷入昏迷。
She was a single woman so there was no children's father around to take care of her. While in the coma, her brother came to visit her.
她還是單身，所以小孩父親沒(méi)有在身邊照顧她。陷入昏迷期間，弟弟有來(lái)探望她。
During one of his visits the woman went into labor. She gave birth to her twins, and the only person around to name her children was her brother.
在探望期間，她剛好那時(shí)分娩，生下了一對(duì)雙胞胎;當(dāng)時(shí)她身邊唯一一個(gè)可以替小孩取名的人就是她弟弟。
When the mother came out of her coma to find she had given birth and that her brother had named the twins, she became very worried, because he wasn't a very smart guy. She was sure he had named them something absurd or stupid.
這位媽媽從昏迷中蘇醒過(guò)來(lái)，發(fā)現(xiàn)自己已經(jīng)生了，而且弟弟還幫小孩取了名字。她很擔(dān)心，因?yàn)榈艿懿皇呛苈斆?，肯定幫小孩取了些可笑或愚蠢的名字?/p>
When she saw her brother she asked him about the twins.
她一見(jiàn)到弟弟，便問(wèn)他有關(guān)雙胞胎的事。
He said, “The first one was a girl.” The mother said, “What did you name her!?”
弟弟說(shuō)：“先生出來(lái)的是女孩。”這位媽媽說(shuō)：“那你幫她取了什么名字?”
Her brother said, “Denise!”
弟弟說(shuō)：“丹妮絲!”
The mother said, “Oh, wow, that's not bad! What about the second one? ”Her brother said, “The second one was a boy.”
這位媽媽說(shuō)：“哦，不錯(cuò)啊，取得還真不賴(lài)!那第二個(gè)呢?”弟弟說(shuō)：“后生出來(lái)的是男孩。”
The mother said, “Oh, and what did you name him?”
這位媽媽說(shuō)：“哦，那你幫他取了什么名字?”
Her brother said, “Denephew.”
弟弟說(shuō)：“丹乃夫。”
(注：這是英文的雙關(guān)語(yǔ)，niece 和nephew 剛好是她弟弟的外甥女和外甥，前面加個(gè)de 就變成了名字。)
