第12 單元 發(fā)薪名單里的彼特
Two men sit down for lunch in the office cafeteria.
有兩個(gè)人坐在辦公大樓的自助餐廳里吃中餐。
"Hey, whatever happened to Pete in payroll?" one asked.
“喂，發(fā)薪名單里怎么沒(méi)有彼特，他到底是怎么了?”其中一人問(wèn)道。
"He got this harebrained notion he was going to build a new kind of car" his coworker replied.
“他想要打造一種新的車款，不過(guò)想法太輕率了。”他的同事回答。
"How was he going to to it?"
“他干了什么事?”
"He took an engine from a Pontiac, tires from a Chevy, seats from a Lincoln, hubcaps from a Caddy and, well, you get the idea."
“他把龐蒂克的引擎、雪佛蘭的輪胎、林肯的座椅、開迪的輪軸蓋拼湊在一起，知道了吧?”
"So what did he end up with?"
“那結(jié)果怎樣?”
"Ten years in prison."
“要吃十年牢飯。”
