Go off the deep end的意思是“不要魯莽沖動(dòng)”。其英文解釋為： to act irrationally, following one'semotions or fantasies。

此語(yǔ)源于游泳。游泳池一段水深，一端水淺。如果一個(gè)人不知道水的深淺，從深水的一頭跳入池子里，那他就跳進(jìn)了沒(méi)底的深水中。如果這個(gè)人又不識(shí)水性，就糟糕了。這樣做事相當(dāng)魯莽沖動(dòng)的。
