Productive procrastination means avoiding what really needs doing by doing tasks that you would otherwise put off such as the laundry, washing your car, the dishes, organizing files on the computer, etc. When all is said and done, your room is clean, your laundry is folded -- but you haven't started your English paper.
For example:
-Have you finished that drawing for class yet?
- No, I'm too busy doing the dishes.
- That's such productive procrastination and you know it.
Procrastination is the avoidance of doing a task which needs to be accomplished. It is the practice of doing more pleasurable things in place of less pleasurable ones, or carrying out less urgent tasks instead of more urgent ones, thus putting off impending tasks to a later time.
Procrastination can take hold on any aspect of life — putting off cleaning the stove, repairing a leaky roof, seeing a doctor or dentist, submitting a job report or academic assignment.
