Down by the salley gardens my love and I did meet;
She passed the salley gardens with little snow-white feet.
She bid me take love easy, as the leaves grow on the tree;
But I, being young and foolish, with her would not agree.
In a field by the river my love and I did stand,
And on my leaning shoulder she laid her snow-white hand.
She bid me take life easy, as the grass grows on the weirs;
But I was young and foolish, and now I am full of tears.

作者威廉•巴特勒•葉芝 William Butler Yeats(1865.6.13—1939.1.28),愛(ài)爾蘭著名的詩(shī)人、劇作家和神秘主義者。葉芝也是“愛(ài)爾蘭文藝復(fù)興運(yùn)動(dòng)”的領(lǐng)袖,艾比劇院(Abbey Theatre)的創(chuàng)建者之一,他于1923年獲得諾貝爾文學(xué)獎(jiǎng),這也說(shuō)明了為什么Salley Garden 如此地富有詩(shī)意。
