今天的故事中，我們的Catherine過五關(guān)斬六將，已經(jīng)進入了最后一輪面試，但是當她得知和她競爭同一個職位的女孩是老總的親戚時，她覺得自己這份工作又沒希望了，她將自己的擔(dān)憂告訴了Jenny，Jenny 拍拍她的肩膀說，I just want them to give you a fair shake .Catherine 心想，難道是說我競爭失敗后他們跟我握手嗎？于是她便問Jenny。

C：I‘ve just heard that my competitior is one of the boss's relatives ,so I guess I will fail again this time
C: 我剛聽說我的競爭對象是老板的親戚，我估計我這次又要被淘汰了。
J: Oh,I just want them to give you a fair shake.
J: 我只希望他們能一視同仁
C: Do you mean that you want them to shake hands with me after I fail?
C：你的意思是說希望他們在我失敗后跟我握手嗎？
J: No honey.What I was saying means that i want them to treat you all equally.
J：不，親愛的。我剛剛那句話的意思是我希望他們能公平的對待你們。
C: Oh I see.I hope so.
C：哦我明白了。我也希望如此。

shake的本意是“握手，搖晃”,但口語中shake有“處置，對待”的意思,a fair shake 就是“公平的待遇”give sb. a fair shake 就是對某人一視同仁的意思
