Ladies and gentlemen, the topic of my speech is Making a Difference.
I remember how my mom complained about paying for the plastic bags after the policy was put into operation last June. For her, it is inconvenient as she always forgets to bring the recylable bag with her. I tried to remind her to bring one every time she goes shopping because I understand that it is protecting our city, we have already learned lessons in the passed years, and we learned them the hard way.
My family and I moved to a small city in Guangdong from our hometown several years ago. The city is among the best environmentally-protected cities in Guangdong. a local friend of mine told me that the people here had been working really hard on dealing the environmental problems such as the air pollution. according to my friend, the sky here used to be grey, and the vehicle waste in the streets gives people headache, the government took a lot of measures, put他ing limits on the waste emission of factories and on the use of motorbikes, encouraging citizens to take more buses than driving etc. At first, few people understand the policies and thought that they are of no use but *** life inconvenient. But as the problem gets worse, the citizens started to realize the importance of clearing the city's air, and they began rearranging their lives to coordinate with the government. After a few years, they made a difference in the quality of the city's air, and they made a difference in the quality of their own lives.
We tried to lead a better life through the industrialization of the city, but there's a price to pay. Our life was improved by the enlarging range of products and the increasing amount of infrastructure. However, is that all we want in the city? Just like the people in the southern city i live want fresh air, all the men and women who love and care about their cities want is a safe and comfortable home to live. It is time, to start a nation-wide campaign to clean up our cities. I see the policy of charging on plastic bags as a good start, my mom is getting use to it, we are all getting use to it. We have proved that we are doing it, and we are doing it fine. I believe in the future, more and more people will join hands in *** a difference in our cities, and *** a difference in our lives. Thank you very much!
