百喻經(jīng)之八三: 獼猴喻

　　(83) A FEMALE MONKEY

　　昔有一獼猴為大人所打，不能奈何，反怨小兒。

　　Once upon a time, a female monkey was beaten by a full-grown person. The animal had no other alternative than gave vent to its anger later on a small boy.

　　凡夫之人，亦復(fù)如是。先所嗔人，代謝不停，滅在過去。乃于相續(xù)后生之法，謂是前者，妄生嗔忿，毒恚彌深。如彼癡猴為大人所打，反嗔小兒。

　　This is also held to be true with the common stupid men. One who is offended by another person takes out his anger sometimes on a third person. Human affairs are always in a state of transition without discontinuity. For things born in the past are bygone. What come after are different things. Thus the one wrongfully gets into a temper only gets deeper and deeper into hatred. This is just like the monkey that has been beaten by a grown person vents its anger on a small boy.

　　曾有一頭獼猴，被大人打了，沒有辦法，反而把怨氣出在小兒身上。

　　凡夫愚人也是這樣，先前所瞋怨的人，歲月更迭不停之中，已在過去死了。對(duì)于相續(xù)后生者，以為是前人的延伸，就憑空生出瞋怒之念來，惡毒的憤恚之氣轉(zhuǎn)而愈加深濃了，就像那只癡猴，被大人打了，反而泄怒在小兒身上。
