Kingfisher green lines the deserted shore,
the misty vision stretches to a distant tower.
Their shadows overspread the autumn-clear water
and catkins fall on the angler’s head.
Old foots form hollows where fish hide;
limbs reach down to moor the traveler’s boat.
Soughing, soughing in the wind and rain of night
they startle dreams and compound the gloom.
