阿里斥資150億美元建“達(dá)摩院”

Alibaba has said it will invest $15bn in research and development over the next three years, with plans to open research labs in China and overseas to focus on artificial intelligence and security technologies.

阿里巴巴(Alibaba)表示，將在未來(lái)3年投資150億美元用于研發(fā)，計(jì)劃在中國(guó)和海外開(kāi)設(shè)研究實(shí)驗(yàn)室，關(guān)注人工智能和安全技術(shù)。

Alibaba said on Wednesday it will open a total of eight research labs in China, the US, Russia, Israel and Singapore to focus on areas such as machine learning and natural language processing.

阿里巴巴周三表示，“達(dá)摩院”已經(jīng)開(kāi)始在全球各地組建前沿科技研究中心，包括亞洲達(dá)摩院、美洲達(dá)摩院、歐洲達(dá)摩院，并在北京、杭州、新加坡、以色列、圣馬特奧、貝爾維尤、莫斯科等地設(shè)立不同研究方向的實(shí)驗(yàn)室，關(guān)注機(jī)器學(xué)習(xí)和自然語(yǔ)言處理等領(lǐng)域。

The Chinese ecommerce company called its latest R&D push the Alibaba DAMO Academy, which it said was designed to enhance worldwide technological collaboration and narrow the technology gap.

這家中國(guó)電商集團(tuán)這一最新研發(fā)努力名為阿里巴巴達(dá)摩院(Alibaba DAMO Academy)，阿里巴巴表示其目的是加強(qiáng)全球技術(shù)合作并縮短技術(shù)差距。

Like its peers, Alibaba has been beefing up its artificial technology and machine learning capabilities to process the troves of data it collects daily from consumers.

與同業(yè)一樣，阿里巴巴一直在提高其人工智能技術(shù)和機(jī)器學(xué)習(xí)能力，以處理每日收集的來(lái)自消費(fèi)者的大量數(shù)據(jù)。

The unit, which will be headed by Alibaba Group’s chief technology officer, Jeff Zhang, plans to hire 100 research staff.

達(dá)摩院將由阿里巴巴集團(tuán)首席技術(shù)官?gòu)埥ㄤh(Jeff Zhang)率領(lǐng)，計(jì)劃聘請(qǐng)100名研究人員。

Alibaba said it currently employs about 25,000 engineers and scientists.

阿里巴巴表示，目前該集團(tuán)擁有大約2.5萬(wàn)名工程師和科學(xué)家。
