Although the exterior of the Lagoa Stadium, which sits on the banks of Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas and approximately 1.7 miles from the tourist hotspot of Copacabana, appears messy, the interior is thought to be complete.

Although Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas has not been afflicted with the same concerns over water quality as other parts of the Olympic set-up, the lagoon appeared less than pristine on Monday with bits of garbage - including a plastic bag - seen floating in the depths.
Other bits of infrastructure, including the jetties and filming stands, appeared complete.
Security has also been ramped up around the perimeter of the lake and, when Daily Mail Online visited, it was being patrolled by a boat-load of armed soldiers while security personnel stood guard at each entrance.
