Apologize to your sister.

I must apologize for not being able to meet you.

I apologized to her for stepping on her foot.

B:It certainly has been a pleasure chatting with you here.

A:Yes, I've had a delightful time with you, and I appreciate your spending so much time with me.

B:I hope you will be here again if you're free.

It's about time.

I'll time for lunch. "Yeah, it's about time."

比較地道的表示是It's about time.

About time表示“該……的時(shí)候了”,句型It's about time… It's about time I went home.“是我回家的時(shí)候了?!?Time和不同介詞搭配構(gòu)成的短語還有:on time表示“準(zhǔn)時(shí)”,in time表示“及時(shí)”,比如,but for the storm, we would have been in time.“要不是這場(chǎng)暴風(fēng)雨我們會(huì)及時(shí)到的?!?/p>

表示“已經(jīng)沒有時(shí)間了”,可以說:Time is up.或者Time is running out. The contract runs out at the end of the month.“合同本月底到期。”

A:Well, Mr. Johnson. I really must be going now.

B:Oh, are you in such a hurry?

A:Yes, I'm afraid so.

B:In that case, I won't insist your staying. Did you have a good time here?

A:Yes. I had lots of fun tonight and enjoyed every minute here.

a blue streak

第一種用法是:“跑的像電一樣快”(to go like a blue streak).

第二種用法是:“連珠炮似的講話”(to talk a blue steak).

英國人把這種人比喻為talk off a donkey's (a dog's, a horse's) hind leg,是指話說的天花亂墜或叨嘮不休,把驢、狗或馬的后腿都講斷了。

The motorcyclist had gone like a blue streak toward Baker Street.

Once she starts talking, she's talk a blue streak.
