英語早間課堂:If S had done, S should have done.

Last time we learned a sentence pattern: If S + had done, S+would have done. 該句式表示對過去發(fā)生的事情的一種假設(shè)，句中所說的事情與過去的實際情況相反。

1 如果早點動身我們就可以趕上巴士了。

If I had left sooner, I would have caught the bus.

【點評】1 該句言外之意就是：I didn't leave sooner and I wouldn't catch the bus. 2 該句子中有個“了”字，憑借語感我們就可以知道“沒有早點動身”和“沒有趕上巴士”這2個動作已經(jīng)過去了。

2 我要是Nacy的話，我當(dāng)時就立即走。

If I had been Nancy, I would have left at once then.

【點評】1 該句言外之意就是：I wasn't Nancy and I wouldn't leave at once then. 2 此句中有個很明顯的時間狀“當(dāng)時”，一讀句子憑借語感就知道這事兒已經(jīng)發(fā)生過了，“我不是Nancy”這一狀態(tài)和“Nancy當(dāng)時沒走”這個動作已經(jīng)過去了。

3 如果當(dāng)時你處于我的位置，你怎么辦?

【點評】1 此句言外之意就是：you wouldn't know how to deal with this matter as you weren't in my position. 2 此句話有個很明顯的時間狀語“當(dāng)時”，一讀句子憑借語感我們就知道這件事情已經(jīng)發(fā)生過了，“你不知道如何處理矛盾”和“你不是處于我的位置”這2個動作都過去了。

4 如果我那時想起了那事兒，我會像母親提及的。

I would have told it to my mother if I had thought of that.

【點評】1 此句話言外之意就是：I didn't think if that and I wouldn't tell it to my mother.2 該句中有個很明顯的時間狀語“那時”，一讀句子憑借語感就知道“我沒有提及”和“我沒有想起”這2個動作都過去了。

5 倘若我以前手頭不是那么拮據(jù)的話，我就不會那么做了。

I wouldn't have done it like that if I hadn't been so hard up.

【點評】1 此句話言外之意就是：I did it like that as I was so hard up before.2 該句中很明顯有個時間狀語“以前”就表示這事情發(fā)生在以前，“我手頭拮據(jù)”這個狀態(tài)和“我那樣做了”這個動作已經(jīng)發(fā)生過去了。

This morning I would like to tell you a new sentence pattern : If S had do, S + should do. 這個句式也是對過去發(fā)生的事情的一種假設(shè)，句中所表示的意思與實際情況相反。那么跟前面講的句式有何不同呢?不同就在主句中的主語如果是第一人稱的話，就可以用should，其他人稱不可用，若是第一人稱，當(dāng)然也可用would. 例如習(xí)題中的第4.5題就可以改為：I shouldn't have done it like that if I hadn't been so hard up. I should have told it to my mother if I had thought of that.
