Last time we learnt a short sentence which is used to ask somebody speak honestly:"Level with me."Today I would like to share a new expression with you that is similar to it but the situation used is a little different. It's often said when somebody lies. What's it? Let's get the answer from the dialogue.

A : You have got to come clean with me. You are seeing other women. B : Yeah. I have been on a few dates recently.

It it "You have got to come clean with me." This sentence is a little longer than before. But actually the key point is "come clean ". It's an idiom which means "to admit and explain something that you've been kept as a secret". Okay, how should we put it in Chinese? Guess it! It is : 全盤招供，和盤說(shuō)出。

What's more,there is a set phrase structure: come clean with somebody about something. 向某人全盤說(shuō)出某事。For example: Isn't it time the goverment come clean with the public about their plan for education. 這難道不是政府向公眾徹底說(shuō)明教育計(jì)劃的時(shí)候嗎?

Here's an idiom which is similar to "come clean about something". It is : make a clean breast of something to somebody. 看到影視上，警察確實(shí)是挺辛苦的，要費(fèi)盡心思去套出犯人的供詞。當(dāng)犯人招供后，警察會(huì)松一口氣說(shuō)道：The man suspected of killing the little girl made a clean breast of everything to me after he had been questioned for a long time. 經(jīng)過(guò)長(zhǎng)時(shí)間的審訊，這個(gè)殺小姑娘的嫌疑犯招供了. Another idiom which is similar to saying "go straight" we learned just a few days ago. It is : clean up your act. It means start behaving in a moral or responsible way. 如果您身邊有位吸毒者，您不妨對(duì)他說(shuō)一句：Cheer up! You should clean up your act and come off drug in a drug rehabilitation center.
