x. 關(guān)系副詞why, that

1. 先行詞是reason并在從句中作原因狀語(yǔ)時(shí)，用關(guān)系副詞why引導(dǎo)從句，why=for which。

That's the reason why I didn't come to school.

那就是我沒(méi)有來(lái)上學(xué)的原因。

I can never understand the reason why/for which he did that foolish thing.

我永遠(yuǎn)也不可能明白他為什么做了那件傻事。

2. 先行詞是reason但是在從句中作主語(yǔ)或某些動(dòng)詞如explain, remember, forget等的賓語(yǔ)時(shí)，不能用why引導(dǎo)從句，這時(shí)要用that或which引導(dǎo)從句。

I can never understand the reason that/which he explained to me.

我永遠(yuǎn)也不理解他向我解釋的原因。

3. that有時(shí)可用作關(guān)系副詞，代替where, when或why引導(dǎo)從句，并且可以省略。

That was the year (that= in which) he was born.

他就是那年出生的。

This is the reason (that= for which) he didn't come.

這就是他沒(méi)有來(lái)的原因。

4. 先行詞是the way并在從句中作方式狀語(yǔ)時(shí)，用in which/that引導(dǎo)從句或者不用關(guān)系詞。不能用how引導(dǎo)從句。

This is the way (that=by which) we came last time.

這就是我們上次來(lái)的方式。

I don't like the way (that= in which) she looks at me.

我不喜歡她看我的那種方式。
