682　too much，very much和much too

① too much可以修飾不可數(shù)名詞，意為“太多，太過(guò)”，這時(shí)，too much結(jié)構(gòu)中的much是形容詞，意為“許多，大量的”，too修飾形容詞原級(jí)much，表示強(qiáng)調(diào)，所以much是中心詞，too是much的狀語(yǔ)。這時(shí)，too much為形容詞短語(yǔ)，修飾不可數(shù)名詞。

He wasted too much time in his youth. 他年輕時(shí)浪費(fèi)了太多的時(shí)間。

He has too much work to do. 他有太多的工作要做。

Don't drink too much wine. 不要喝太多的酒。

I can't read so many books in a month. It's too much（work）for me. 我不能在一個(gè)月之內(nèi)讀完這些書(shū)。這對(duì)我來(lái)說(shuō)太多了。

② too much可用作副詞，修飾動(dòng)詞。

The man drank too much and became drunk. 那人喝得太多，醉了。

Father told us not to watch TV too much. 父親告訴我們不要看電視過(guò)多。

You can't praise him too much. 你怎么贊美他都不過(guò)分。

He likes the book too much.

③ too much可以用作名詞短語(yǔ)，作主語(yǔ)、表語(yǔ)或賓語(yǔ)。

Too much is said about the matter. 關(guān)于那件事已經(jīng)說(shuō)得太多了。

Too much is as bad as too little. 過(guò)猶不及。

The work is too much for me. 這工作我干不了。

Don't ask for too much. 不要要得太多。

Don't eat too much for supper. 晚飯不要吃得太多。

④ much too結(jié)構(gòu)中的too是副詞，意為“太”，much修飾too，表示強(qiáng)調(diào)，所以too是中心詞，much是too的狀語(yǔ)。much too不可單獨(dú)使用，后面要跟形容詞或副詞原級(jí)。

It is much too cold today. 今天太冷了。（比too cold更強(qiáng)調(diào)）

⑤ very much表示“很”，為副詞短語(yǔ)，表示強(qiáng)調(diào)，并非所有的動(dòng)詞都可被very much修飾。very much通常用以修飾表示“感謝，喜歡，痛恨”的動(dòng)詞。

I love singing very much. 我很喜歡唱歌。

Thank you very much for all the help. 很感謝你給的一切幫助。

I hate him very much. 我很恨他。

下列動(dòng)詞要用其他副詞修飾，不用very much：work（工作），try（設(shè)法），rain（下雨），be hurt（受傷），be injured（受傷），think（思考）。
