359　ignorant，be ignorant of，illiterate和uneducated

① ignorant指缺乏或不了解一般或某方面的知識，有愚昧的含義。be ignorant of/about表示“對……無知”。

He was ignorant of the traffic rules here. 他不懂這兒的交通規(guī)則。

She was very young，and ignorant of what life really is. 她很年輕，不懂得什么是真正的人生。

The woman was ignorant about those people round her husband. 這位婦女對她丈夫周圍的那些人全然不了解。

② illiterate指“文盲的”，即不具備學(xué)習(xí)書本知識所需的讀寫能力。

He was an illiterate man. 他目不識丁。（他是文盲。）

③ uneducated指未受過學(xué)校的系統(tǒng)教育或未學(xué)過書本中的系統(tǒng)知識，有“文化素質(zhì)差”的含義。

Many people who have been to school are uneducated. 許多進(jìn)過學(xué)校的人并沒有受過良好的教育。
