334　hardly/scarcely…when/before和no sooner…than

◎ 這幾種結(jié)構(gòu)均表示“剛一……就”，只是hardly/scarcely…when/before 比no sooner…than 更為正式。表示過(guò)去的行為動(dòng)作時(shí)，hardly，scarcely和no sooner 引導(dǎo)的從句通常用過(guò)去完成時(shí)，when，before和than 引導(dǎo)的從句用一般過(guò)去時(shí)。hardly，scarcely和no sooner 位于句首時(shí)，要用部分倒裝。

Hardly had I got into the office when the telephone rang. 我剛進(jìn)辦公室電話鈴就響了。

Hardly had we reached the mountain top when it began to rain. 我們剛到山頂就下起雨來(lái)。

No sooner had he returned home than he was arrested. 他剛一踏進(jìn)家門就被逮捕了。

No sooner had the moon appeared then it was clouded over. 月亮剛剛露出臉兒，就被烏云遮住了。

Scarcely had I opened the door when the dog came running in. 我一開門狗就跑了進(jìn)來(lái)。
