Cheap and cheerful

cheap比較好理解，但是如果只是單單用cheap形容一件商品，通常意味著商品的質(zhì)量也非常一般。這時，如果再加上 “cheerful”這個單詞，就很好地將“物美”的感覺表達出來。

Cheerful:adj.快樂的; 高興的; 令人愉快的;

Cheap and cheerful

When people say that something is cheap and cheerful, they mean the product doesn't cost much but it serves its purpose.

 

Example:

He made a lot of money from designing cheap and cheerful toys for children.

他為孩子設(shè)計物美價廉的玩具，從中掙了不少錢。

但如果時候買回來的東西雖然便宜，但是你發(fā)現(xiàn)，質(zhì)量確實很差，簡直是粗制濫造，這時，可以用“cheap and nasty”來表達。

nasty adj. 極差的; 令人厭惡的; 令人不悅的;

Example:

Everything in this shop is cheap and nasty, don't buy anything.

這家店東西都很粗制濫造，什么都別買。
