The musician Rubenstein often went to Picasso's studio to see him paint. Once, Rubenstein found Picasso kept painting the same thing in several months. The background was the balcony railings and the foreground was a table, a bottle of wine and a guitar.
When Picasso drew nearly fifty pieces of the same work, Rubenstein asked impatiently, "Every day you portray the same still, aren't you tired?
Picasso retorted, "Don't you think you are talking nonsense? Don't you know every hour is a new light, every minute I'm different? Although I look at the same bottle of wine, I can see a different personality, a different bottle, a different table and a different life in a different world. In my eyes, everything is different. "
Since then, when repeating a song, Rubenstein could play a different flavor.

音樂家魯賓斯坦經(jīng)常到畢加索的畫室看他畫畫。一次,魯賓斯坦在好幾個(gè)月內(nèi)看到畢加索不斷地在畫同樣的東西。背景是陽臺(tái)的鐵欄桿,近景是一張桌子,一瓶葡萄酒、一把吉他。
當(dāng)畢加索畫了將近50幅同樣的作品后,魯賓斯坦不耐煩地問道:“每天都描繪同樣的靜物,難道你不厭煩嗎?
畢加索反問道:“你不覺得自己在說廢話?難道你不知道,每一分鐘都是不同的我,每一小時(shí)都有新的光線,每天雖然看同一瓶酒,但我可以從中看到不同的個(gè)性,看到不同的酒瓶,看到不同的桌子,看到不同世界里的不同生命! 在我的眼睛里,這一切都是不同的?！?br />從此以后,魯賓斯坦在重復(fù)彈一首歌時(shí),都能彈出不同的韻味。
