小王子 第48期:我的玫瑰花

"You are not at all like my rose," he said. As yet you are nothing.

“你們一點(diǎn)也不象我的那朵玫瑰，你們還什么都不是呢!”小王子對(duì)她們說(shuō)。

No one has tamed you, and you have tamed no one.

沒(méi)有人馴服過(guò)你們，你們也沒(méi)有馴服過(guò)任何人。

You are like my fox when I first knew him.

你們就象我的狐貍過(guò)去那樣，

He was only a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes.

它那時(shí)只是和千萬(wàn)只別的狐貍一樣的一只狐貍。

But I have made him my friend, and now he is unique in all the world." And the roses were very much embarrassed.

但是，我現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)把它當(dāng)成了我的朋友，于是它現(xiàn)在就是世界上獨(dú)一無(wú)二的了。這時(shí)，那些玫瑰花顯得十分難堪。

"You are beautiful, but you are empty," he went on. "One could not die for you.

"你們很美，但你們是空虛的。”小王子仍然在對(duì)她們說(shuō)，沒(méi)有人能為你們?nèi)ニ馈?/p>

To be sure, an ordinary passerby would think that my rose looked

當(dāng)然羅，我的那朵玫瑰花，

just like you the rose that belongs to me.

一個(gè)普通的過(guò)路人以為她和你們一樣。

But in herself alone she is more important than all the hundreds of you other roses: because it is she that I have watered;

可是，她單獨(dú)一朵就比你們?nèi)w更重要，因?yàn)樗俏覞补嗟摹?/p>

because it is she that I have put under the glass globe; because it is she that I have sheltered behind the screen;

因?yàn)樗俏曳旁诨ㄕ种械摹Ｒ驗(yàn)樗俏矣闷溜L(fēng)保護(hù)起來(lái)的。

because it is for her that I have killed the caterpillars (except the two or three that we saved to become butterfies);

因?yàn)樗砩系拿x(chóng)(除了留下兩三只為了變蝴蝶而外)是我除滅的。

because it is she that I have listened to, when she grumbled, or boasted, or even sometimes when she said nothing.

因?yàn)槲覂A聽(tīng)過(guò)她的怨艾和自詡，甚至有時(shí)我聆聽(tīng)著她的沉默。

Because she is my rose.

And he went back to meet the fox.

他又回到了狐貍身邊。

"Goodbye," he said.

“再見(jiàn)了。”小王子說(shuō)道。

"Goodbye," said the fox. "And now here is my secret, a very simple secret:

It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.

只有用心才能看得清。實(shí)質(zhì)性的東西，用眼睛是看不見(jiàn)的。

"What is essential is invisible to the eye," the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.

“實(shí)質(zhì)性的東西，用眼睛是看不見(jiàn)的。”小王子重復(fù)著這句話，以便能把它記在心間。

"It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.

正因?yàn)槟銥槟愕拿倒寤ㄙM(fèi)了時(shí)間，這才使你的玫瑰變得如此重要。

"It is the time I have wasted for my rose–" said the little prince, so that he would be sure to remember.

“正因?yàn)槟銥槟愕拿倒寤ㄙM(fèi)了時(shí)間…”小王子又重復(fù)著，要使自己記住這些。

"Men have forgotten this truth," said the fox. But you must not forget it.

“人們已經(jīng)忘記了這個(gè)道理，”狐貍說(shuō)，可是，你不應(yīng)該忘記它。

You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed. You are responsible for your rose...

你現(xiàn)在要對(duì)你馴服過(guò)的一切負(fù)責(zé)到底。你要對(duì)你的玫瑰負(fù)責(zé)…

"I am responsible for my rose," the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.
