Captain Peleg, said I, I have a friend with me whowants to ship too-shall I bring him down to-morrow?

法勒船長(zhǎng),我說(shuō),我還有一個(gè)朋友,他也想做水手。我明天可以帶他來(lái)嗎?

To be sure, said Peleg. Fetch him along, and we'lllook at him.

行,行,法勒說(shuō)。把他找來(lái),讓我們看一看。

What lay does he want? groaned Bildad, glancing upfrom the Book in which he had again been buryinghimself.

他要多少拆賬?比勒達(dá)哼著說(shuō),眼睛打書(shū)本上抬了起來(lái),因?yàn)樗衷诼耦^讀書(shū)了。

Oh! never thee mind about that, Bildad, said Peleg. Has he ever whaled it any? turning to me.

Killed more whales than I can count, Captain Peleg.

And, after signing the papers, off I went; nothing doubting but that I had done a goodmorning's work, and that the Pequod was the identical ship that Yojo had provided to carryQueequeg and me round the Cape.

But I had not proceeded far, when I began to bethink me that the Captain with whom I was tosail yet remained unseen by me; though, indeed, in many cases, a whale-ship will becompletely fitted out, and receive all her crew on board, ere the captain makes himself visibleby arriving to take command; for sometimes these voyages are so prolonged, and the shoreintervals at home so exceedingly brief, that if the captain have a family, or any absorbingconcernment of that sort, he does not trouble himself much about his ship in port, but leavesher to the owners till all is ready for sea. However, it is always as well to have a look at himbefore irrevocably committing yourself into his hands. Turning back I accosted Captain Peleg,inquiring where Captain Ahab was to be found.

And what dost thou want of Captain Ahab? It's all right enough; thou art shipped.

你要找亞哈船長(zhǎng)干什么呢?一切都弄得舒舒齊齊了,我們已經(jīng)把你雇好啦。

Yes, but I should like to see him.
