But this august dignity I treat of, is not the dignityof kings and robes, but that abounding dignitywhich has no robed investiture.

我這里講的“尊嚴(yán)”不是帝王將相的尊嚴(yán)，而是平民百姓的尊嚴(yán)，

Thou shalt see it shining in the arm that wields apick or drives a spike; that democratic dignitywhich, on all hands, radiates without end from God;Himself!

這尊嚴(yán)表現(xiàn)在他們有力的臂膀上，表現(xiàn)在他們手中投槍的閃光上。 平民的尊嚴(yán)來(lái)自于上帝光芒的照耀!

The great God absolute! The centre and circumference of all democracy! His omnipresence,our divine equality!

獨(dú)來(lái)獨(dú)往的上帝是人間的民主與平等的起源，

If, then, to meanest mariners, and renegades and castaways, I shall hereafter ascribe highqualities, though dark; weave round them tragic graces;

他無(wú)所不在的神通，造就了萬(wàn)千人類子孫的尊嚴(yán)。

if even the most mournful, perchance the most abased, among them all, shall at times lifthimself to the exalted mounts; if I shall touch that workman's arm with some ethereal light;

我也許要將人類的一些高貴品質(zhì)歸之于一些最卑賤的水手和異教徒身上，在他們之中挑選出感人的悲劇人物來(lái);我也許還要寫(xiě)到您的靈光在他們有力的臂膀上的閃光，

if I shall spread a rainbow over his disastrous set of sun; then against all mortal critics bearme out in it, thou just Spirit of Equality, which hast spread one royal mantle of humanity overall my kind!

寫(xiě)到彩虹一樣的五彩之路接續(xù)了他們充滿厄運(yùn)的命運(yùn)之路…萬(wàn)能的上帝啊，拯救我于迷途吧!
