The following day I was back on the road, heading across the desert. This is a part of Sudan beyond the reach of the river where little can survive. I was traveling to a region that was once home to the ancient Nile civilization now known as Nubia, it developed to long the river five thousands years ago and stretch from northern Sudan into Southern Egypt. Archeologist like Tim shedding new light on a largely forgotten civilization. When people think of a culture along the Nile, they are only in ancient time. I think they just think of the the ancient Egypt, but we are in Sudan! Right, it was a major ancient civilization here, urban, literate, powerful kings that controlled the best empire in its century bigger than any empire that had ever been on the Nile before. And here we are, standing in front of pyramids of these kings. Two thousand kilometers cells of the pyramid is Egypt. This is neary a royal cemetery containing pyramids for twenty kings and fifty four queens.
