5. Eating (1)
1) What's for dinner tonight?
今天晚上吃什么東西?
* for 的后面可連接“breakfast, lunch,
snack”等任何一詞,for 含有“準備些什么東西”的意思。
2) What would you like to eat?
你要吃些什么?
* 也可以用 have 代替 eat。
3) I'd like something light, please.
請給我一點清淡的東西吃。
* light meal 是清淡的食物,heavy meal
是指可以填飽肚子的東西。
4) They have brought wine with them to the
dinner party.
他們?yōu)橥硌鐜砹嗣谰啤?/P>
5) Say, do you smell something burning in
the kitchen?
喏,你有沒有聞到廚房里有燒焦的味道呀?
* burn 是指煮焦、燃焦,但烘焦也可以用。
e.g. She died of the burns
that she received in the fire.
她死于火災(zāi)中所受的灼傷。
6) I'm sorry the casserole has gotten over
cooked.
對不起,沙鍋給燉焦了。
* “overcook, overdo,
oversleep, overestimate, etc.”都是指“太……,……過了頭”的意思。
7) Is everyone going to come home for
dinner?
各位能回家吃飯嗎?
* 省略“going to
come”,說成“coming”也不會改變意思。
8) Where shall we go to eat lunch
today?
我們該在哪兒吃中飯呢?
* 用 for 代替 to eat
也可以。
9) Carol would like to eat Italian
pizza.
卡羅爾喜歡吃意大利餡餅。
* 也可以省略 to eat。
