CNN News:美國召開國防部長提名聽證會

We are starting with a confirmation hearing. This is Ashton Carter. He is the former U.S. deputy secretary of defense, he`s President Obama`s choice to be the next secretary of defense. Part of the Senate`s job is to give the president advice and consent about his cabinet nominees. So, a Senate committee opened a hearing yesterday. A kind of job interview for Ashton Carter. One subject he was asked about, ISIS, the terrorist group in Iraq and Syria, recently murdered a captured fighter pilot from Jordan. The brutality, with which ISIS killed him and two Japanese hostages has stirred up rage around the world.

今天的新聞我們從一個聽證會開始。這是阿什頓卡特，美國前國防副部長，美國總統(tǒng)奧巴馬提名其為美國國防部長。參議院的部分工作是給總統(tǒng)提建議并通過內(nèi)閣成員提名。所以坐臺女參議院召開了一次委員會聽證會。也是對阿什頓卡特的一次面試。其中設計到的一個問題就是在伊拉克和敘利亞的IS恐怖組織最近殺害約旦飛行員事件。IS恐怖組織殘忍殺害了該飛行員，還有兩名日本人質(zhì)，該事件引起了世界范圍的憤怒。

The Obama administration says it`s made progress in leading the fight against ISIS, but it`s been criticized for not having a clear strategy on how to defeat the terrorists. If Ashton Carter is confirmed as Defense Secretary, he`ll likely have some options in fighting ISIS.

奧巴馬政府表示其正領導著對抗IS打擊戰(zhàn)取得進展，但是其因為沒有明確的作戰(zhàn)策略備受批評。如果阿什頓卡特被提名為國防部長，他很大程度上將就打擊IS恐怖組織行動采取措施。
