If innovation is purely market driven,

and we don't focus on the big inequities,

then we could have amazing advances in inventions
那么世界就算有再多美妙發(fā)明也是白搭
that leave the world even more divided.
只能讓世界分化越發(fā)嚴(yán)重
We won't improve public schools.
我們將無(wú)法改善公立學(xué)校條件
We won't end malaria.
我們將無(wú)法根除瘧疾
We won't end poverty.
我們將無(wú)法根除貧困
We won't develop the innovations poor farmers need
我們將無(wú)法開(kāi)發(fā)出貧苦農(nóng)民所需的創(chuàng)新
to grow food in a changing climate.
讓他們能在變化的氣候條件下種出作物
If our optimism doesn't address the problems
如果我們的樂(lè)觀不能解決這些問(wèn)題
that affect so many of our fellow human beings,
不能幫助很多需要幫助的同胞
then our optimism needs more empathy.
那么這種樂(lè)觀就需要更多同情心
If empathy channels our optimism,
如果同情心能夠引導(dǎo)我們的樂(lè)觀
we will see the poverty and the disease and the poor schools.
我們就肯定能看到貧困 疾病和糟糕教育條件
We will answer with our innovations
我們就肯定能通過(guò)創(chuàng)新給出答案
and we will surprise the pessimists.
我們就肯定能讓悲觀主義者大吃一驚
