　　put in a good wor for me 直譯為“為我說一句好話”，這個短語的真正意思是：“幫我美言幾句”。因此，當美國人說:"Can you put in a good word for me to get thatjob?"時，他要表達的意思就是:"Can you recomment me for the job?"、"I want to get that job, so can you introduce me to your company?"、"Can you give me some help to get that job?"。
