[00:14.65]by the International Olympic Committee
[00:17.20](IOC) in Singapore.It was London.
[00:20.76]London's name had been announced twice before,
[00:23.68]in 1908 and 1948.
[00:26.58]so it now has the distinction
[00:28.52]of being the first city to host the event
[00:30.54]three times.
[00:32.18]Applications to host the games
[00:33.86]had also been made by Moscow, Madrid,
[00:35.82]New York and Paris.
[00:37.46]In the end, it came down to a choice
[00:39.47]between Paris and London.
[00:41.82]The news is being celebrated
[00:43.43]by crowds in the streets.
