[00:11.53]China's first manned spaceship lifted off
[00:14.08]at 9 a.m.on Wednesday,
[00:15.90]October 15th,2003 in Jiuquan,Gansu province.
[00:21.64]The spaceship,called Shenzhou V,
[00:23.98]was carrying China's first astronaut,Yang Liwei
[00:28.66]Yang,who was a pilot in the army,
[00:30.75]was chosen from 1,500 other army pilots and
[00:34.70]started training for his space flight in 1998.
[00:39.23]The launch was very successful.
[00:41.61]"When the spaceshiop was lifting off,
[00:43.72]I could really feel the high gravity",
[00:46.52]said Yang Liwei.
[00:48.04]"When the spaceship separated from the rocket,
[00:51.07]I suddenly got a feeling of soaring
[00:53.17]into the sky because of the zero gravity."
[00:56.65]During the 21-hour space flight,
[00:58.76]the Shenzhou V circled the earth 14 times.
[01:02.45]While the spaceship was circling the earth
[01:04.46]for the sixth time,
[01:05.88]Yang Liwei spoke with ground control in Gansu.
[01:09.21]He was also able to speak with his wife
[01:11.29]and 8-year-old son.
[01:13.46]Yang Liwei had several tasks to complete
[01:16.25]during the flight and only slept
[01:18.10]in the spaceship for about 3 hours.
[01:21.14]While he was sleeping ,
[01:22.21]the spaceship circled the earth twice.
