habit的用法與搭配習(xí)慣

1. 表示做某事的習(xí)慣，其后通常要接 of doing sth作定語(yǔ)，通常不接不定式。如：

I make a habit of never lending money to strangers. 我自己立下個(gè)規(guī)矩，從來(lái)不把錢借給生人。

類似下面這樣的句子雖然在habit后接了不定式，但不是定語(yǔ)，而是主語(yǔ)，注意句首使用的形式主語(yǔ)。如：

It is her habit to go for a walk after supper. 晚飯后散步是她的習(xí)慣。

It was not his habit to ask people for things. 他沒(méi)有向別人要東西的習(xí)慣。

2. 注意以下有用搭配：

(1) 表示具有做某事的習(xí)慣，通常與have, be in搭配。如：

Is it in the habit of biting people? 你的狗咬人嗎?

He has in the habit of rising early. 他有早起的習(xí)慣。

(2) 表示養(yǎng)成、沾染、形成做某事的習(xí)慣，通常與acquire, develop, fall into, form, get into, make等動(dòng)詞搭配。如：

You need to form the habit of reading carefully. 你需要養(yǎng)成仔細(xì)閱讀的習(xí)慣。

I’ve got into the habit of switching on the TV as soon as I get home. 我已養(yǎng)成一到家就打開(kāi)電視機(jī)的習(xí)慣。

It’s very easy to fall into the habit of smoking, but extremely difficult to stop. 要養(yǎng)成吸煙的習(xí)慣很容易，但要戒掉卻極其困難。

(3) 表示打破或戒除做某事的習(xí)慣，通常與break, get out of, get rid of, give up, kick等動(dòng)詞搭配。如：

I wish I could get out of the habit of smoking. 我希望我能改掉吸煙的習(xí)慣。

You must break off [get rid of] the habit of telling lies. 你必須戒掉說(shuō)謊的習(xí)慣。

3. 表示“出于習(xí)慣”，一般用介詞out of habit。如：

I sat in my old seat purely out of habit. 我完全是習(xí)慣性地坐到了我的老位子上。

有時(shí)也用from the habit。如：

I smoke only from habit; I wish I could break the habit. 我吸煙只是一種習(xí)慣，我希望改掉這個(gè)習(xí)慣。
