與此同時,這一類詞語由于其具備強調(diào)的意義通常也是句子中需要“重讀”的關鍵詞語,掌握它們的其作用自然不言而喻。我相信,列出的大部分詞語都是大家使用的高頻詞匯。但是,真正在意識上會把它們當成一類工具詞語來使用并且刻意添加以加強語氣或充實句子的人很少。要知道,積累、分類強調(diào)詞匯其實是通向語言variety(多樣性)的第一條道路,非常關鍵。
當然,詞不離句,我在這里首先要澄清一個優(yōu)先概念:強調(diào)句型(注意不是強調(diào)句)。表示強調(diào)的句型我們簡稱為“強調(diào)句型”,包括倒裝句強調(diào)句感嘆句等。這里我主要涉及的是強調(diào)句型中的一支:“強調(diào)詞匯”——即通過詞匯來表達情感。
接下來我就根據(jù)意義進行分類,再結合例句給大家介紹這些強調(diào)詞匯(以adv.為主)的作用,并且總結這些詞在新概念三冊中的所有相關例句。非常巧,這其中包含了大量新概念三的經(jīng)典鉆石句,這也間接說明了我在此總結并希望大家熟練掌握強調(diào)詞匯的重要性。希望大家在看完各部分的單獨分析后再參照我后面所列出的新概念三冊里的例句鞏固加深記憶并且掌握各種語境下的用法。
一、“很” :VERY
在表示“非常”“很”或“太”的時候,我們有不少詞能夠表達類似的意思:
awfully (= terribly 既可表可怕 也有awfully beautiful = very beautiful表示“很”)
badly (非常極度 The babies are badly in need of domestic milk powder substitute.)
bloody (英式英語中表“忒”的意思 例如bloody well right表示“非常好”)
dame (英語口語表示強烈情感時候經(jīng)常用 例如“很好”用dame good)
deadly (極度的絕對的 He was deadly heartbroken by her ex-girlfriend.)
dearly (從深情引申到深深 He was dearly in love with her at that time.)
dreadfully (= terribly 例如表示“怕得要命”be dreadfully scared)
much (表很大程度上通常用作句首倒裝 引導轉(zhuǎn)折 Much as…+不帶but的轉(zhuǎn)折)
enormously (萬分非常 He was enormously grateful for her backing him up then.)
