Many people were in line to see the new Memorial at the World Trade Center. Bill asked a Memorial volunteer, "Can I look at the reflecting pools without standing in this long line?" She said, "Sure. Go inside the Winter Garden over there." It was a 10-minute walk to the Winter Garden. He went upstairs. He was about 30 feet above ground. He looked out the huge windows. He could see the construction site. He could see the Hilton Hotel. It was a tall, glass building just east of the construction site. But he couldn't see the reflecting pools at all. He wasn't up high enough. That was a long walk for nothing, he thought. A tour guide approached with a group of students. Bill asked, "How can I get a better view of the reflecting pools?" Pointing east, the guide said, "That’s easy. Rent a room at the Hilton!"
