50塊錢就是50塊錢
Ferber and his wife Martha went to the fair everyyear. Every year Ferber would say, "Martha, I'd like toride in that airplane."
費(fèi)伯和妻子瑪莎每年都去市集。每年費(fèi)伯都會(huì)說：“瑪莎，我想坐那架飛機(jī)。”
And every year Martha would say, "I know Ferber,but that airplane ride costs fifty dollars, and fifty dollars is fifty dollars."
而瑪莎每年都會(huì)這樣回答他：“費(fèi)伯，我知道你想坐那架飛機(jī)，可是坐飛機(jī)要花50塊錢呢，50塊錢啊。”
One year Ferber and Martha went to the fair and Ferber said, "Martha, I'm 71 years old. If Idon't ride that airplane this year I may never get another chance."
一年，費(fèi)伯和瑪莎又來到市集，費(fèi)伯說：“瑪莎，我已經(jīng)71歲了，我今年要是不坐飛機(jī)的話，我就再?zèng)]機(jī)會(huì)坐了。”
Martha replied, "Ferber, that airplane ride costs fifty dollars, and fifty dollars is fifty dollars."
瑪莎答道：“費(fèi)伯，坐那架飛機(jī)要花50塊錢呢，50塊錢啊。”
The pilot overheard them and said, "Folks, I'll make you a deal, I'll take you both up for a ride.If you can stay quiet for this entire ride and not say one word, I won't charge you, but if yousay one word it's fifty dollars."
飛行員聽到了他們的談話，走上前來說：“兩位，我跟你們做個(gè)交易吧，我讓你們兩個(gè)都坐飛機(jī)。如果你們?cè)谡麄€(gè)飛行期間都能不說一句話，我就不收你們錢。可是如果你們說了一個(gè)字，我就要收50塊錢了。”
Ferber and Martha agreed and up they went. The pilot did all knids of twists and turns, rollsand dives, but not a word was heard. He did all his tricks over again, but still not a word.
費(fèi)伯和瑪莎同意了，他們上了飛機(jī)。飛行員做了各種翻滾和俯沖的動(dòng)作，可是他沒聽到他們發(fā)出一聲。于是他把所有的特技動(dòng)作又來了一遍，可還是沒聽他們吭一聲。
They landed and the pilot turned to Ferber, "By golly, I did everything I could think of to getyou to yell out, but you didn't."
著陸后，飛行員對(duì)費(fèi)伯說：“天哪，我做了所有的特技，我想你們會(huì)叫出來的，可是你們竟然一聲沒吭。”
Ferber replied, "Well, I was gonna say something when Martha fell out, but fifty dollars is fiftydollars."
費(fèi)伯答道：“瑪莎掉出去時(shí)，我是應(yīng)該說一聲的，可是要50塊錢呢，50塊錢啊。”
