第30單元 敞開的門
Reverend Tom Sonack opened "The Open Door" about ten years ago. "The open Door" is a safe place for street people to go to for socializing, free clothes,use of computers, food, support, and many other things.
湯姆·桑納克牧師十年前成立“敞開的門”,這是一個(gè)安全的場(chǎng)所,街頭游民不僅可以在這里從事社交活動(dòng),還提供免費(fèi)的衣服、電腦使用、食物、支持和其他事物。
The Reverend was tired of feeling uncomfortableand helpless when he saw people on ethe street. "The Open Door" was his solution to the problems. It has moved location a few times but now it is located in the heart of the city and helps approximately 600 people a day.
牧師不希望再因?yàn)榭吹浇诸^游民,而感到不安和無助,因此成立“敞開的門”來解決問題。“敞開的門”搬了幾次家,現(xiàn)在坐落在市中心,每天都會(huì)幫助約六百人。
It is not just for street people but is also a place for people with mental disorders or physical disorders. Many of the people who use the facility praise the efforts of the staff and the volunteers for creating such a welcoming place.
來到這里的人不只是街頭游民,還包括心理失常和肢體障礙的人,利用這個(gè)地方的許多人贊美員工和義工努力創(chuàng)造這個(gè)溫暖的地方。
The Reverend says,"It is important for people living on the streets to have a place to go. It also helps the residents of the city. It makes them feel safer having less people on the street. "The staff members at the "The Open Door"are also educators, providing information on drugaddiction, and offer counseling services.
牧師說:“讓街頭游民有地方可去很重要,這同樣也在幫助這個(gè)城市的居民,街頭少些人游蕩,讓他們感到更安全。”“敞開的門”里的員工同時(shí)還是教育者,提供毒癮的相關(guān)資訊與咨詢服務(wù)。
