Just after I got married, I was invited out for a night with the boys.
我才剛結(jié)婚，晚上就被一群朋友邀出去狂歡。
I told the Mrs. "I would be home by midnight...I promise!!"
我跟老婆說：“我半夜就會回來...我保證!!”
Of course, midnight came and went and I was still at the bar. I knew my wife will going to kill me if she found out.
當然啰，半夜早就過了，我人也還在酒吧里。我知道如果被老婆發(fā)現(xiàn)就死定了。
Just as I got in the door, the cuckoo clock started, and cuckooed 3 times. It was three a.m.
回到家門口時，布谷鳥剛好叫了三聲， 已經(jīng)凌晨三點了。
I realized my wife would probably wake up, so I cuckooed another 9 times.
我想老婆可能會醒來，于是學(xué)布谷鳥又多叫了九聲。
I was really proud of myself to escape a possible conflict.
能夠避開一場可能的干戈，我真替自己感到驕傲。
The next morning my bride asked me what time I got in and I told her "12 o'clock."
隔天早上老婆問我?guī)c回來的，我告訴她“12點。”
She then told me that we needed a new cuckoo clock.
她就告訴我得買個新的布谷鳥鐘了。
When I asked her why ahe said,"Well, last night it cuckooed three times, said 'Dame it,' cuckooed another four times, passed gas, cuckooed another three times, cleared its throat, and cuckooed twice and giggled."
我問她為什么，她說：“因為啊，昨晚她叫了三聲后，說了聲‘該死’，再接著叫了四聲;放了兩個屁又叫了三聲;然后清清喉嚨又叫了兩聲，最后還咯咯地笑了起來。”
