第18單元 臟話
A young couple got married and left on their honeymoon. Back at home for a few days, the bride called her mother."Well, how was the honeymoon?"asked the mother.
一對(duì)小情人婚后去度蜜月?；丶?guī)滋旌螅履锎螂娫捊o她媽媽。“還好嗎?蜜月旅行怎么樣啊?”媽媽問道。
"Oh, Mama,"she replied,"The honeymoon was wonderful! So romantic..."
“啊，媽媽，”她回答：“蜜月很棒!好浪漫...”
Suddenly she burst out crying."But, mama, as soon as we returned, Sam started using the most horrible language. He's been saying I've never heard before! All these awful four-letter words! You've got to come get me and take me home! Please, Mama!"
突然間她哭了出來：“可是，媽媽，我們回來后，山姆就開始講些很討人厭的話。他一直說些我以前沒聽過的話!全部都是臟話，聽了真不舒服!你一定要來接我回去!拜托啦，媽媽!”
"Sarah, sarah,"her mother said."Calm down! Tell me, what could be so awful? What four-letter words!"
“莎拉，莎拉，”她媽媽說：“冷靜一下，告訴我，什么話那么難聽?他到底都講了些什么臟話?”
"Please don't let me tell you, Mama,"wept the daughter, "I'm so embarrassed!They're just too awful! You've got to come get me and take me home! Please, Mama!"
“不要逼我講啦，媽媽，”女兒哭著說：“我好難為情哦!那些話實(shí)在太不中聽了!你一定要來接我回去!拜托了，媽媽!”
"Darling, baby, you must tell me what has you so upset. Tell your mother those horrlble four-letter words!"
“心肝寶貝，你一定要告訴我什么事惹你不開心。乖，告訴媽媽到底是什么臟話!”
Still sobbing, the bride replied,"Oh, Mama...Words like dust, wash, iron, and cook..."
新娘一邊啜泣一邊回答道：“啊!媽媽...好比去打掃、去洗衣、去熨衣、去煮飯...”
