　　A: Are you falling for someone in our company?

　　你是不是愛上了我們公司的什么人?

　　B: Nothing of the sort, I know few people in thecompany.

　　沒那回事，我不認(rèn)識(shí)公司里的什么人。

　　A: But you do seem to fall for Lucy.

　　課你好像是確實(shí)有點(diǎn)喜歡Lucy。

　　B: Well, I like her, but I can’t hold a candle to her. I am not her match.

　　第二， 地道表達(dá)

　　Can’t hold a candle to someone

　　1. 解詞釋義

　　Cannot hold a candle to someone的字面意思是“不能為某人持握住蠟燭”，比喻為“遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)不如”“不能相提并論”“不可與日耳語(yǔ)”或“給人提鞋跟都?jí)虿簧?rdquo;等等意思。我們常用“秉燭之能”來(lái)諷刺某人的無(wú)能，無(wú)用。
