詞。總體上說，go to 后面要接著一個名詞，比如地名等，而to后面要接一個動名詞，例如某種運(yùn)動。例如我們要說“去游泳池”時英語就是:“go to a swimming pool”。但是，當(dāng)我們要說去游泳時，英語就應(yīng)該是“ go swimming”。您聽明白了嗎?現(xiàn)在讓我們跟著英語老師一起來練習(xí)。

蒙納: 噢，這個不對，利奧。這筆洗衣費看起來好象太多了。

Mona: Oh, this isn’t right. Leo, this laundry bill seems too much.

利奧: 我看看。。。呣。。。這是急件干洗的收費。

Leo: Let me see. Hmm. That’s for emergency dry cleaning.

蒙納: 我不記得我有使用過任何干洗呀。

Mona: I can’t remember any dry cleaning.

利奧: 噢，這是整修您帽子的費用，懷特女士。

Leo: Repairs to your hat, Ms White.

蒙納: 六十美元呀?

Mona: Sixty dollars?

利奧: 這是因為它是以急件方式處理的，而且還是在假日。不過如果您需要的話，我可以查詢一下這筆費用。

Leo: It was cleaned at very short notice and on a holiday.

However, I can query it if you like.

蒙納: 哦，不用了。

Mona: No, that’s OK.

請注意聽，利奧在將帳單遞給客人時是這么說的。這是您的帳單。

Leo: Here are your invoices.

您要不要花點時間把它過一遍?

Leo: Do you need a minute to look over them?

在實際生活中大概很少有客人不核對帳單就付帳的，所以也許利奧不必向客人問第二個問題。不過這句話中的動詞look , 看， 在和不同的介詞搭配使用時，它后面所跟的名詞也不同。我們說核對帳單時，英語就是“ look over an invoice”。而我們要說“看看菜單”時，英語就是“look at menu”。這是因為look over 這個介詞短語除了有“看”的意思之外，它還暗喻著“核查”的意思。另外，您知道“看看小冊子”的英語怎么說嗎?這種時候我們就要說“look through brochures”。這是因為小冊子和書是要翻頁閱

讀的。不是嗎?也許您現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)被這些不同的介詞短語弄得頭暈?zāi)X漲了吧?不要著急，先讓我們跟著老師一起來練習(xí)一下這些句子好嗎?

在實際生活中，客人對帳單中的某項收費提出疑問的原因往往是因為他們忘記了自己曾經(jīng)使用過這項服務(wù)，所以利奧在對話中就特別向蒙納提供了具體的細(xì)節(jié)。除此之外，利奧還向蒙納建議可以去更進(jìn)一步核查。請注意，他是這樣說的。

利奧: 不過，如果您需要的話我可以查詢一下這筆費用。

Leo: However, I can query it if you like.

在這句話中，利奧是以however 開頭的。However 是but 這個詞的另外一種更加正式的說法。接下來請跟著老師一起練習(xí)。
