各位朋友好，歡迎您收聽為旅游及服務(wù)業(yè)人員提供的初級“旅游業(yè)英語”第四講，我是澳洲廣播電臺的節(jié)目主持人馬健媛。第四講“入住酒店”。在第三課中，我們學(xué)習(xí)了如何在前臺迎接客人及如何說房間的號碼，我們還學(xué)習(xí)了I’ll、和we’ll、這類的縮略語、有關(guān)方位的介詞及如何禮貌地表達“是”和“不是”的意思。在接下來的這一課中，我們要學(xué)習(xí)諸如“Is that OK?” 這樣的安排可以嗎? 這類的短語。當(dāng)你要確定客人是否滿意你的某項建議時，你就可以說“Is that OK ?”這樣的安排可以嗎?另外，我們還要學(xué)習(xí)有關(guān)there is 和there are ， 和can 可以、能夠及could 可以、能夠的用法。好，在我們學(xué)習(xí)新的課程之前，首先讓我們一起來復(fù)習(xí)一下入住酒店的第一部分的對話。

Leo: Good afternoon. Can I help you?

Mona: Yes, we have a reservation for three nights. Mona White. I

called last week.

Leo: One moment please, Ms White.

Leo: Yes, that was for two single rooms, wasn’t it? I’ve reserved

rooms 402 and 403 for you.

Mona: Are they quiet rooms?

Leo: Well they are facing the street, but there’s a lovely view.

Mona: We’d like quiet rooms thanks.

Leo: Of course…

Leo: I can put you in rooms three-eleven and three-twelve. They’re

at the rear of the hotel.

Jack: Mona…

Mona: That’s much better, thank you.

Jack: Mona…

Mona: Yes, Dad?

Jack: I’d like a view.

Mona: Oh. Is there a view?

Leo: Not really.

Mona: Well, we want our rooms together.

Jack: Mona…

Mona: Yes, Dad?

Jack: I don’t mind if our rooms aren’t together. I’d like a lovely view.

Mona: Oh.

Leo: I’ll see what I can do.

請注意利奧是怎樣詢問客人是否滿意客房安排的。

利奧: 這樣的安排可以嗎?

當(dāng)我們要詢問客人對你的建議是否滿意時，我們就可以說Is thatOK? 此外，你還可以說Is that alright? Is that alright? 或者說Will that do? Will that do? 請注意聽錄音并跟著說。

也許有時您會感到在何種情況下該使用can 或could 令人疑惑，其實從某種程度上講這兩個字是可以通用的。基本的原則就是如果是你主動提出了某項建議，那么就要用can, 例如: Can I helpyou? 有什么可以為您效勞的嗎?但是當(dāng)你提出某項請求時，你就要用could. 例如:Could you fill out this fomp3 please? 請您填一下這份表格。請聽對話并跟著重復(fù)。

Leo: Could you just fill out this fomp3 please?

Can I help you?

Can I get you anything else?

現(xiàn)在讓我們來學(xué)習(xí)there is 和there are 的用法。當(dāng)我們要表達某處有一個物體的時候，我們就要說there is, 例如:there is aclock。那里有一個鬧鐘。There is 的縮略語是there’s,there’s a clock。那里有一個鬧鐘。此外，在描述的物體是不可數(shù)名詞時我們也要使用there is 。不可數(shù)名詞包括茶葉、水或糖等

等。例如“ There’s tea in the room” 。房間里備有茶葉。在描述復(fù)數(shù)的物體時，我們一定要使用there are， 而且這個表述方法沒有縮略語形式，這一點請您特別注意。例如:there are two guests in the lobby 酒店大廳有兩位客人。There are teamakingfacilities in every room。每個房間都有煮茶的設(shè)施。請注意聽下面的對話并跟著重復(fù)。

我們再練習(xí)一次。首先您會聽到漢語，然后是這句話的英語。鈴聲之后會有一段間隔以便您復(fù)述這個句子。請注意，您必須自己確定在這個句子前面應(yīng)該使用there is 還是there are. 然后請再對照錄音看看您的答案是否正確并跟著錄音再次重復(fù)一遍這個句子。請不要忘記確定在例句前面使用“there’s”, 而不用“there is”。每個房間都有茶杯。
