姚明當選新一屆“籃協(xié)主席”

Chinese basketball legend Yao Ming was elected as the president of the Chinese Basketball Association here on Thursday. Yao, 37, became the first-ever non-governmental personage to take the position.

中國籃壇傳奇球星姚明2月23日正式當選中國籃球協(xié)會主席。37歲的姚明也是首位非政府官員籃協(xié)掌門人。

姚明的當選被認為將給中國籃球帶來變革(bring about reforms to Chinese basketball)。近年來，姚明積極倡議CBA改革，提出將籃球運動職業(yè)化(professionalization)，推出更好的商業(yè)模式(a better business mode)、限制外援人數(shù)(limit the numbers of foreign players)等等。

1980年出生于上海的姚明是中國籃壇的一位傳奇巨星。

1998年4月，姚明入選王非執(zhí)教的國家隊，開始籃球生涯。

在CBA取得巨大成功之后，2002年的NBA選秀他以狀元秀(No 1 pick of the NBA draft)身份被休斯敦火箭選中，并在NBA賽場上同樣開拓出了自己的一片天空。

姚明職業(yè)生涯共8次、其中連續(xù)6個賽季入選NBA全明星陣容(NBA All-Star Game)。

2011年7月20日，姚明正式宣布退役。

2016年4月4日，姚明正式入選2016年奈·史密斯籃球名人紀念堂(be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame)，成為首位獲此殊榮的中國人。
