DORIS: Oh, my God! I can't believe how they fly through the air!

KEN: Isn't it wild?

DORIS: I think it looks too dangerous. People must get killed all the time.

KEN: Actually, people get hurt pretty often.But no one has ever gotten killed in a professional motocross race.It hasn't ever happened in the history of the sport.

DORIS: That is surprising. It looks so dangerous.

KEN: I know it looks dangerous. But it isn't as dangerous as car racing.

DORIS: Which one is your brother?

KEN: He's number 37.He should pass again in a couple minutes. He's wearing all orange.

DORIS: Did you ever try this?

KEN: Oh, yes. It's really exciting.But I wasn't as serious about it as Dave. So Dave became a racer.He goes to races almost every Sunday in the summer.

DORIS: Is he a professional?

KEN: Oh, no. These are amateur racers now.The professionals will race in about an hour.

DORIS: He's an amateur? So he doesn't make any money from this.

KEN: That's right. You have to be a professional to make money.But Dave has a sponsor. Cycle City Yamaha is the shop that sponsors him.

DORIS: What does a sponsor do?

KEN: Racers who have sponsors usually get free racing equipment from the shop.Or they sometimes get to use the shop's van to take their motorcycle to the races.Dave uses his own van, but he gets a lot of free equipment from Cycle City.So it's a good deal.

DORIS: Do women race?

KEN: Sure. But not many.It's a very rough sport. But in some places there is women's competition.Look! There's Dave.

DORIS: I see him. Number 37.

KEN: Right.

DORIS: Ah! He almost fell!

KEN: No, he didn't. That was a trick he used to get around the corner faster.

DORIS: I'm glad I came along today. This is really fun to watch.

肯恩：狂野吧?

桃樂(lè)絲：看起來(lái)好危險(xiǎn)，一定總是出人命。

肯恩：事實(shí)上人很常受傷，但是沒(méi)有人在職業(yè)摩托車(chē)越野賽中身亡，從來(lái)沒(méi)在這種運(yùn)動(dòng)的歷史上發(fā)生過(guò)。

桃樂(lè)絲：真是讓人吃驚!這看起來(lái)好危險(xiǎn)。

肯恩：看來(lái)的確危險(xiǎn)，但是沒(méi)有賽車(chē)危險(xiǎn)。

桃樂(lè)絲：哪個(gè)是你哥哥?

肯恩：他是 37 號(hào)。他幾分鐘后要再通過(guò)一次，他全身穿成橙色。

桃樂(lè)絲：你玩過(guò)這個(gè)嗎?

肯恩：有啊，真的好刺激。但是我沒(méi)有戴夫認(rèn)真，所以戴夫成了賽車(chē)手。夏天他幾乎每個(gè)星期天都去比賽。

桃樂(lè)絲：他是職業(yè)的嗎?

肯恩：不是?，F(xiàn)在這些都是業(yè)余的。大約再過(guò)一小時(shí)職業(yè)賽會(huì)開(kāi)始。

桃樂(lè)絲：他是業(yè)余的?那么他沒(méi)有從中賺到錢(qián)。

肯恩：沒(méi)錯(cuò)，職業(yè)選手才能賺錢(qián)。但是戴夫有贊助者，機(jī)車(chē)城雅馬哈贊助他。

桃樂(lè)絲：贊助者提供什么?

肯恩：有贊助者的選手通常從廠商那兒拿到免費(fèi)的比賽裝備?；蚴怯脧S商的旅行車(chē)將他們的摩托車(chē)送到賽場(chǎng)。戴夫開(kāi)自己的旅行車(chē)，但是他從機(jī)車(chē)城那兒拿到很多免費(fèi)的裝備。真是不錯(cuò)。

桃樂(lè)絲：有女生參賽嗎?

肯恩：當(dāng)然有，但是不多。這是很艱難的運(yùn)動(dòng)，不過(guò)有些地方有女生比賽?？?那是戴夫。

桃樂(lè)絲：我看到了，37 號(hào)。

肯恩：沒(méi)錯(cuò)。

桃樂(lè)絲：他快摔倒了。

肯恩：沒(méi)有，那是他用來(lái)快速?gòu)澾^(guò)轉(zhuǎn)角的招數(shù)。

桃樂(lè)絲：很高興今天我來(lái)了，真的很好看。
